The UAZ Patriot 2023's design hasn't altered much since it made its debut in 2005, with the exception of restylings and technical advancements in 2014 and 2016. Over time, improvements were made to the lighting, grille, and front panel of the cabin.

The following update is also brief, however it is not the last one. The 18-inch wheels now come in a new metallic shade and have undergone some design changes. There is also a brand-new UAZ Expedition Package that includes a winch, a roof rack, a rear ladder, and BFGoodrich off-road tyres. The costly special edition UAZ Patriot that had these items is no longer available.

There haven't been many interior alterations. A- and B-pillar corners have sturdy grab grips to make entering and leaving easier. However, while driving, the passenger should avoid using their hands to block the driver's vision. Extra soundproofing in the firewall and fenders, which lowers engine and road noise, is invisible to the eye but audible to the ear.

Stones that bounce into the wheel wells and the rumbling of the BFGoodrich tyres are lessened by the increased sound deadening, but the Patriot's more potent and torquey engine is harder to cover up. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder used in this new configuration, which was taken from the Profi truck, produces 150 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. The engine from the Patriot before the facelift, which is now restricted to fleet use, has virtually been improved.

The "new" engine's upgraded pistons, cylinder head, heat-resistant exhaust valves, adjusted engine timing, and increased compression ratio of 9.8:1 have allowed it to produce an additional 15 horsepower and 13 lb-ft of torque.

However, the dramatic changes occurring behind the scenes are not reflected in these little performance adjustments. What affects performance is the reduction in peak torque from 3,900 rpm to just 2,650 rpm. Last but not least, the Patriot pulls off-road flawlessly in second and even third gear at extremely low speeds. It drives well and confidently from moderate revs. Even with rear-wheel drive, it manages to get over a lot of significant obstacles.
